Welcome to plathville….

Discovered a new show today on Hulu called welcome to plathville and I have to say I loved it. I went to a nutjob religious school that made me feel from my first day as a freshman to my graduation day that I was a bad person for thinking differently than they taught. Santa was evil. Sex was evil. Everything was evil. They actually taught me women shouldn’t go to college because their place is in the home raising babies and if I were to get a job I should give my money to my husband and maybe if I were good he would give me an allowance. If a girl is raped it’s her fault for dressing the way she did or drinking or dating a man that isn’t a Christian. Shorts were bad. Tank tops were bad. Music other than hymns is bad. Drinking is bad. Dancing is bad. The internet is bad….guess how fun college was having never used it before. The parents on welcome to plathville are basically my high school which was Micah Christian School in Kentucky. I loathed every second in that place. And it messed me up badly. Racist school too. Some of my classmates be they few and far between went to KKK meetings. It was a baptist school that taught Jesus was white with blonde hair and blue eyes and he was baptist…..the king of the Jews was baptist at that school and anyone who wasn’t baptist was going straight to hell. Even babies that died before getting baptized ended up in hell. If you have read my blog posts you get by now that I did not turn out how Micah had hoped. The parents of the show are almost as bad as my school and their kids are growing up and having their own opinions. The oldest son got married and they forbid him to be alone with his siblings because he eats sugar, drinks once in a while and get this….goes to a real church. Yes to this family even church is bad. Of course school is bad and all holidays are bad. The one time their kids get a single present is on their bdays. The show would be in the horror section except their kids turned out to be kind and sweet and accepting of new experiences and the modern world and they touch my heart so when season two comes out I’ll be all over it. So give it a chance and see what you think.
